This design is a fusion of various sources, with the most helpful being Droftarts' PDF and KurtcCircuit's Sliced Wade's Geared NEMA 17 Extruder. Wade's original design, Makerbot's plastruder MK5, and the Makerbot configuration inspired additional features. The extruder's inclined stepper motor ensures balanced center of gravity and a straight filament path. Constructed from 6.75 mm plywood and 5.3 mm PTFE, it feels sturdy and is suitable for stationary extruders or Bowden extruders. Both gears were dipped in marine epoxy for enhanced resistance. This is a work-in-progress design with plans to improve the quick release system. It's attached to a standard RepRap hotend, driven by a RAMPS board, and features laser-cut files with cutter correction for 1.5 mm diameter cutters. Adjust cut depths based on available materials, and note that hobbing the M8 bolt may be necessary. Useful resources include Thingiverse links for bolt hobbing alternatives. A video demonstration is available on YouTube.
