Architectural Marvel: A Digital Revival of the Historic Muqarnas Mashhad Imam Awn al-Din Ibn al-Hassan, a majestic monument in Northern Iraq, has been meticulously recreated through cutting-edge 3D modeling techniques. This stunning structure, originating from Mosul and dating back to the 13th Century, stands as a testament to the ingenuity of ancient architects. In a collaborative effort between Graphic Designer Nyx Alexander and archaeologist Karel Nováček from Palacky University Olomouc, this digital masterpiece has been brought to life under the guidance of the Oriental Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences. Their tireless efforts ensure that this architectural treasure will continue to inspire future generations. A photograph taken by Yasser Tabbaa Archive, Aga Khan Documentation Center at MIT (archnet.org) captures the Muqarnas in all its glory, a poignant reminder of what was lost when ISIS destroyed the original structure in 2014.
