The Mary Rose is a mighty carrack-type warship that led England's Tudor navy under King Henry VIII into battle for an impressive 33 years against France, Scotland, and Brittany. She had been significantly rebuilt in 1536 to better withstand the rigors of combat, but on July 19, 1545, she made her final stand. As she spearheaded a charge against a French invasion fleet's galleys, disaster struck - she sank into the Solent, a narrow strait just north of the Isle of Wight.
