Mary Magdalene, literally translated as Mary of Magdala, was a Jewish woman who, according to texts included in the New Testament, accompanied Jesus as one of his devoted followers. She personally witnessed Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection. Throughout the four Gospels, she is mentioned at least 12 times, more than most apostles.
