From 1803 to 1809 Mary Anne Clarke was mistress to Frederick, Duke of York. Their affair erupted into a major scandal when the Duke faced charges of corruption for promoting offers from whom Clarke had accepted bribes. Rejected by the Duke, Clarke wrote her own revealing memoirs and secured substantial pensions from the government to keep them under wraps. This marble sculpture portrays Mary Anne Clarke (1776-1852) and was crafted by Lawrence Gahagan (1756-1820) in 1811. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital repository of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from all over the world for everyone to access for free.
