I designed a small roadbed marker that helps me mark out the edges of where my O-27 ballast spreader should deposit ballast. This little tool easily glides over the rails, holding two regular pens or pencils on each side to mark a 12-foot O scale road bed with the track centered. Print Settings: Printer: M3D Micro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 200 microns Infill: Medium Notes: I achieved the best results printing it upright, resting on its narrow edge. How I Created This Project My model railroad starts off looking like an electrical diagram. Marks and lines are scattered everywhere, along with numbers and odd notations that need to be covered later. I make a lot of marks and lines to show where my track will be and what allowances there are between. Knowing exactly where the track will be and where the roadbed edges will be is crucial for me. So, I came up with this solution. The design was straightforward; I modified my O-27 Ballast Spreader to hold two pens or pencils on either side to mark out the approximate location of the roadbed edges while sliding it along the rails.
