Martini-Henry Mechanism
prusaprinters
This model is a scaled-up, functional toy mechanism of a Martini-Henry rifle. It is designed to work with custom shells that fit a single Nerf dart (I designed this before learning about the Spring Thunder homemade nerf blaster and its shells). This also was intended for use with a 1" PVC pipe as the barrel (no air seal or anything) and some wooden dowels to act as pins. I have printed a version that consisted of the Body, Ejector, Breech Block, Lever, and Shells, and it worked great!! The ejection was super satisfying and worked perfectly, the press-fit dowels held up nicely. I went on to design the trigger plate, but haven't tested it. Additionally, the Body and the cover plate for the whole design are very rough, those parts are really just there to hold the internals and are missing optimizations for strength and printability, aesthetics to match the source material, etc.I originally envisioned this to be turned into a full Nerf blaster with a plunger or air tank in the stock, but I never got to that point. However, the model is designed with that in mind. This would theoretically be achieved by feeding an air hose through the breech block and into the stock, so the deadspace is pretty bad (i.e. the air has to travel a long distance before it propels the dart, so it loses a ton of energy). I also have no idea how a trigger mechanism could fit into the minuscule space available. However, I'm sure something could be worked out!I'm only providing the STEP file, but I could also upload the individual parts if desired. To be clear, THIS IS A TOY. It's inspired by a real firearm, but this is not intended to be associated with firearms whatsoever.
