Human: I've been using 3ds Max 2010 with V-Ray 2.40.03 to create scenes. The file format that works for me is FBX without texture files like Wool. This scene, Talia Pouf, has dimensions of 40x40 cm in height 45 cm. I made the fur effect in the Max file using geometry methods. Alternatively, you can render the effect by removing the geometry and applying a modifier. Before rendering, navigate to the Rendering Effects tab, select Hair and Fur, and click on mr prim mode below. Set system units to mm. If you plan to render with geometry, convert the model to a proxy beforehand. Rendering in Effects mode produces more realistic results than geometric mode.
