Martin, Pawel & Neil's double axial fan shroud v6.2 for the Wanhao Duplicator 6 PARTS YOU WILL NEED: You will need five m3 cap head bolts: three 20mm and two or three 8-16mm, along with two or possibly even three additional 24V 40mm axial fans. You'll use two of these fans for the double axial fan shroud mod and may also need a third to cannibalise its parts, specifically the extra length of wire that will allow both fans to reach the fan power supply connector on top of the extruder carriage of the D6. If your 40mm axial fans' wires are too short like mine were, you'll have to cannibalise lengths from a third fan. I had purchased a pack of five 40mm 24V axial fans, so I was able to spare three for parts. A print out of this double axial fan shroud is also required. You can reuse the three black coloured 20mm m3 cap head bolts that secure the stock D6 single fan+fan shroud in place, leaving you with just two or three 8-16mm m3 cap head bolts to acquire. ABS is more heat resistant than PLA, so it's always best to use ABS. If you're unsure about using PLA, feel free to try it out and see how it works with your specific brand, but ABS is the safer option. HOW TO INSTALL: You'll likely find that the 40mm axial fans you've purchased or have lying around won't work when plugged straight into the print cooling fan power connection at the top of the D6. The reason for this is that the wiring in the female power connector for the 40mm axial print cooling fan on the D6 is in reverse polarity compared to most, if not all, axial fans on the market. To get an externally sourced axial fan working with your D6, you'll need to reverse the wires inside the male power connectors. Normally, you can just swap the ends of the axial fan wires and solve the issue, but since you'll need to perform soldering anyway to get two fans working on the same power feed, it's easier to simply solder the wires in the correct polarity needed. It's a good idea for each user to verify their specific setup before proceeding with any modifications. Once you've confirmed your axial fan setup works as expected, you can proceed with installing the double fans onto the printed double fan shroud using the assortment of m3 bolts (three 20mm and two or three 8-16mm). Consult the attached pictures for guidance on how to assemble the mod. You won't need any m3 nuts anymore to secure the bolts to the shroud, as the holes on the left side are now small enough for the bolt to thread itself in tightly. Once you've installed everything correctly, enjoy your upgraded D6!
