Mars' forge complexes churn out troops, hardwired with discipline, dogmatic indoctrination, and total obedience even in the face of almost certain death. These characteristics define nearly all soldiers who march forth from the red planet's industrial hubs. However, none are as devoted to their faith or loyal to their cause as the Vanguards. Their days are numbered, and despite being cybernetically enhanced, their bodies are poisoned with higher doses than even Mars' barren wastelands. Still, these soldiers welcome deadly energies seeping from their guns into their bodies, dooming them to a slow death, as they embrace the machine god and their sword and shield simultaneously. Not only do their baroque carbines bring death to enemies, but the Vanguards' march itself purges foes with holy radiation, terraforming each battleground to resemble Mars' sterile beauty.
