Martian 5" Radio Tray

Martian 5" Radio Tray

thingiverse

This tray is designed for the Martian-255 5" quadcopter, making it easier to install radio equipment in a tidy manner. The tray fits well with the Chinese clone of an impulseRC Alien 5" kwad, which can be purchased from RadioC at £26. It's a budget frame that's light, compatible with common parts, and flies well too. The design caters for both RH & LH side SMA type VTXs, allowing you to install an LED in the spare hole. The tray has been optimized to print with TPU using 2mm support structures. There are two schools of thought on mounting radio kits, RX, & VTX close together; some believe it causes intermodulation product and reduces range (FGA), while others suggest no impact based on practical experience (LeDrib). It's suggested that you separate your RX & VTX if flying long distances. However, Drew has had success with mounting them close together without any issues. This design was inspired by @drewcamden aka LeDrib and is specifically for the Martian 5". It features a front & rear brace structure, square holes in the rear brace to help align the VTX, and a reduced diameter rear plug in the RX antenna tube hole.
