Marthe Robin

Marthe Robin was a French woman who spent most of her life in the town of Chavannes-sur-Luc. Born on June 15, 1890, she lived until April 6, 1981. Her life was marked by illness and pain that lasted for over 40 years. The doctors diagnosed her with tuberculosis at age 18. In spite of the diagnosis, Robin chose to live in a small hut near Chavannes-sur-Luc where she spent time in prayer and meditation. She never married nor had children. The villagers considered her an eccentric due to her unusual habits and behavior. Over time, however, people began to notice that Marthe's body did not decay or show the typical signs of someone suffering from tuberculosis. Many were skeptical about her condition but some believed she was actually cured by God. In 1950, a group of doctors visited Marthe in her hut to examine her further. They took samples of her skin and bone marrow. The results revealed that her body did not show any sign of the disease that had been diagnosed 40 years earlier. The news of Robin's miraculous healing spread quickly, drawing the attention of many people from all over France and Europe. Some of them were seeking physical or spiritual healing while others simply wanted to meet Marthe in person. Eventually, a small chapel was built near her hut where she could receive visitors and share her story with those who came to see her.
