Marsyas, a sculpture by Balthasar Permoser from Germany, is dated around 1680-1685. This masterpiece was likely crafted in either Rome or Florence. The artwork, made of marble, stands on a black marble socle with light marble inlays. With its socle included, it measures 27 x 17 3/8 x 11 1/8 inches and has a socle height of 6 1/4 inches. It is classified as a sculpture. The piece was acquired through the Rogers Fund and Harris Brisbane Dick Fund in 2002, receiving accession number 2002.468. Notably, it was captured by Jonathan Monaghan using Autodesk 123D Catch at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during the Met MakerBot Hackathon in June 2012.
