Mars Pathfinder and Sojourner

Mars Pathfinder and Sojourner

thingiverse

This is a model of the Mars Pathfinder and Sojourner lander and rover which landed on Mars in 1997, marking a historic moment for space exploration. The Pathfinder prints as one solid piece in its folded configuration, showcasing the ingenuity of its design. Once the support material is carefully removed, the side panels can be effortlessly opened and closed with ease. Meanwhile, the Sojourner rover fits snugly inside the model while it's still folded, demonstrating its compact size. Be cautious when first unfolding the model as the support material is printed internally within the hinges, posing a slight challenge. Avoid forcing a panel open at all costs; if one gets stuck, employ pliers to gently rotate the axle itself and it should release with minimal effort. Once opened for the first time, the panels should glide smoothly back and forth without any resistance.
