The MARS, micrometer adjustable reamer stop!!This tool is made, so you can cut your chamber in your barrel without having to worry that you cut too deep. Cutting to deep will make you have to cut material off the back of your barrel to get the right chamber length (so a chamber without excessive head space (dangerous!!)). This highly speeds up the process of cutting chambers. Once the tool is set right you can routinely make barrels that have uniform chambers. Normally you can only get the MARS reamer stop for reamers with the maximum diameter of .660" but now i made another one that does it up to 1.2225" So you can even make chambers for 20mm Vulcan (20x102mm) and 14.5x114 Russian!! That is bigger than 50 BMG!! This can also do 12 gauge shotgun chamber reaming. So it should be what you want to have when you are into making (custom) barrels!! I added the length of the parts in microns on the side. The thread on this MARS reamer stop is 1 in 40, so you can have 25 "thou" (thousands of an inch) per turn. You want to use this tool with a floating reamer holder that i will upload the next upload, or the one after that which could also be the chamber reamers that i made. Which will be 556NATO, 762NATO, 50BMG and the popular wildcats too! So that does more justice to the parts to upload them in a separate upload. So you can study them better. :) This took a while to study and to get right. This should be good to go. The real MARS reamer is presumably M7 tool steel. But while A2 tool steel is in the solidworks library, it what i gave the parts instead of M7 tool steel. The real MARS reamer has the letters and numbers laser engraved. How it is heat treated further, i do not know. But for accuracy sake, you probably best harden the material before machining, and just use carbide to get it machined. So there cannot be any warping. I havent done heattreating in real life yet. So i cannot say what the best thing to do is. I did read a lot on the subject to know that you can warp things when you heat treat it when its all machined. Sometimes they rough machine, treat it and then grind after that. But carbide can do the machining even on hardened parts. Just keep your parts cool enough to keep the heat treat, and you are fine. I added the clearance on the hole side so there are no parts that wont fit if you put it in your CNC machine and make it. The thread, well you can check it out if it is to your liking.
