Mars Globe from NASA Elvation Data

thingiverse

Mars terrain created from NASA's Mars elevation data. Two million faces. Elevations amplified by a factor of two and ten. Produced from a 2048x1024 image (utilizing GDAL for scaling, so geographical information remains intact). Source material: https://astrogeology.usgs.gov/search/details/Mars/GlobalSurveyor/MOLA/Mars_MGS_MOLA_DEM_mosaic_global_463m/cub Caveats: - Mesh: Not sealed, holes at the North and South pole. .obj is in quads, not triangulated. - Not entirely accurate, assuming Mars was a perfect sphere to generate the mesh instead of a more complex Martian geoid, which the elevation data is based on. - Elevation is amplified 2x and 10x to a reference radius.
