This sculpture portrays Mars, renowned as the god of war and a vigilant agricultural guardian. As the most prominent deity among the military gods in Roman Army religion, he is depicted leaning against a tree that mirrors the harvest ceremony. Wearing an iconic helmet, characteristic of most Mars depictions, this sculpture stands out. Originally carved from marble by John Gibson in the 19th Century, it is now on permanent display at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, where anyone can contribute interesting items; if you have something worth sharing, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can be a part of it.
