Marlin - WiFi to SD uploader board
thingiverse
One of my printers (specifically 4MAX PRO) still operates on an 8-bit board without Wi-Fi. Recently, I decided to try solving the issue of transferring data from the slicer. I have set the following assumptions: 1) Simplicity. 2) Transfer > 1.5 MB/s. 3) Wi-Fi. I would like to present the second version of the prototype. The circuit is connected between the card socket and the main board. I know that this may not be possible on every board. Fortunately, this board has an SD socket placed on an additional board. Additionally, the UART connection is utilized to enable automatic printing initiation upon upload completion. I am at the initial testing stage, and I must admit that the device is performing satisfactorily. With a transfer reaching 2 MB/s, most files are sent faster than it would take to save them to the card, swap the card, and start the print. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxnvsZrGRXY Required parts: 1) ESP32-WROOM-32; 30 pin (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005501097357.html) 2) MicroSD socket (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002327556213.html) 3) DC-DC converter (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005084434791.html) 4) Female headers; 2 * 15 (for example https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32685728398.html) 5) Some SMD resistors, diodes, capacitors 6) IDC-10 socket 7) PCB My concerns regarding the range have been confirmed. After enclosing it in a metal casing (bottom of the Anycubic 4max), the speeds have significantly decreased. Therefore, I have decided to replace the old ESP-WROOM-32 with the ESP-WROOM-32UE. This way, it is possible to bring the antenna outside. This is not necessary if the module is not enclosed in a metal casing.
