Markerbot IR Reader Robot
cults3d
Markerbot is an affordable robot engineered to help young children learn programming skills. The robot boasts an IR reader that enables kids to program it to perform any task by simply coloring in the correct arrows on a paper strip with markers. Four IR sensors are strategically placed along the circumference of the reader and detect their respective columns of check marks on the strip of paper. The fourth column on the strip is pre-printed with a set of check marks indicating when the other sensors should verify if check marks are present in their own column. The code running on the Arduino splits the strip into 3x3 sections and extracts various movement commands to be executed once the "Start" button is pressed. This project was designed for a robotics class. Check out a video of it in action, as well as some other students' innovative designs, at https://sites.google.com/site/me842010/home/markerbot
