In just 18 months, from program initiation to first boat delivery on September 4, 1995, the Mark V SOC was developed rapidly thanks to USSOCOM's Agency level contracting authority. A dedicated Program Management team and the USSOCOM Contracting Directorate executed this record-breaking effort. Ultimately, 20 Mk V SOC units were delivered at a $3.7 million per unit cost by 1999 when full operational capability was achieved. However, the deployment process faced challenges such as windshield and pilothouse assembly collapses due to wave impact; these issues have since been resolved, significantly enhancing maritime special operations capabilities.
