Mario Warp Pipe Succulent Flower Pot

Mario Warp Pipe Succulent Flower Pot

I wanted a unique office desk decoration that combines my love for gaming and plants, specifically a Mario warp pipe filled with a succulent. My initial design was simple - just a basic cup to house the plant. However, after printing it and placing a plant inside, I realized the need for proper drainage. This led me to refine the design through three iterations until I landed on the final version. In my second iteration, I incorporated an internal reservoir to collect excess water with an overflow drain, but this created concerns about mold growth over time without any cleaning mechanism. My third and current design addresses these issues by allowing for easy emptying and cleaning of the catch cup. I also aimed to create a main pipe that wouldn't require supports during printing. By flipping the pipe upside down in Cura, it can be printed without additional support structures. The catch cup is designed to print right-side up without supports as well. However, my initial print at 0.1 layer height resulted in some sagging at the bottom of the cup. If anyone has a better method for printing the bottom without supports, I'm open to suggestions. **Update:** The threads have been corrected, and a new catch-cup with improved threading is available. For those interested in creating a plant that resembles Mario's Piranha Plant, consider grafted cacti like the Ruby Ball Cactus, which can be found at thespruce.com/grow-grafted-ruby-ball-cactus-1902604.
