Mario's Spirograph Kit (Attempt)

Mario's Spirograph Kit (Attempt)

thingiverse

Mario crafted this spirograph kit using Solid Edge software, combining all the necessary pieces into a single package along with pens and paper. He designed a functional kit but encountered some issues that they were unable to perfect due to time constraints. They are sharing their design here, advising against printing the entire kit and instead suggesting it be used as inspiration for your own unique designs. Mario had to carefully calculate gear ratios for the cogs while coming up with an innovative way to differentiate this spirograph from others. The box is somewhat large, requiring a 30-hour print on their Ditto Pro printer, and the lid doesn't securely latch in place. For the hinge, they used welding rod with a diameter slightly narrower than 2mm. The OuterSprio2.stl file has an incorrect gear ratio and will not function well with the InnerSpiro.stl files. However, the OuterSprio.stl works perfectly with three of the four InnerSpiro.stl files, which are relatively easy to print and might be enjoyable to play with. From their images, you can see that it somewhat functions.
