My daughter drew a wolf from a picture, and transformed it into an STL file using "Image To STL" available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:66115 by BloodBlight. The conversion was successful, thanks to Brian's assistance. I have shared three pictures - the first is the original drawing, the second shows the printed model with light shining on it, and the third demonstrates the light shining through. For printing, simply follow the instructions. There is no need for a raft, as it can either be removed (which may be messy) or the object will shine through, as seen in my print.
