Marianas Trench

The models, representing the Marianas Trench in the Western Pacific, were created with a choice of two map scales (1:2,000,000 and 1:5,000,000) at a print size of 150mm. Both versions offer a 1x and 5x vertical exaggeration. The data was sourced from the British Oceanographic Data Centre (http://www.bodc.ac.uk). MapWindowGIS (www.mapwindow.org) and Sketchup (sketchup.com), along with its "Heightmap to Mesh" plugin, were used for model creation. Post-processing was carried out in Netfabb and Meshlab (www.netfabb.com, meshlab.sourceforge.net).
