Mariana Bitang, born August 3, 1962 in Râmnicu Sărat, is a renowned coach for the Romanian national women's artistic gymnastics team. Along with her partner, Octavian Bellu, she played a pivotal role in Romania's success at the World Championships from 1994 to 2001, guiding them to five consecutive team gold medals. They also led the team to gold medal victories at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2005, Bitang retired from coaching but remained an influential figure as an adviser to Romanian President Traian Băsescu. She and Bellu resumed their coaching duties with the women's team in 2010. This striking sculpture is part of a growing collection of bronze busts situated outside The School of Gymnastics in Deva, Romania. Each bust honors a female athlete who represented Romania since the 1978 Olympic Games in Montreal. This series pays tribute to the remarkable strength and achievements of female artistic gymnasts and athletes worldwide. The renowned School of Gymnasts was founded by the legendary Nadia Comaneci and is currently led by Marta and Bela Karoly. Since 2003, the school has been known as The Cetate Deva National Sports College, focusing on developing young female athletes. This sculpture is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe.
