Harley Quinn is a supervillain from DC Comics, typically paired up with Batman. Paul Dini and Bruce Timm created this character, first seen on screen in 1992's Batman: The Animated Series. She later turned up in the comics, debuting in issue #12 of The Batman Adventures that September of '93. Her name is a nod to Harlequin, a commedia dell'arte character. In animated versions, Harley often speaks with a distinct New York accent.
