In 1674, thirty historic figures who made their mark on the city were immortalized with busts in the town hall's grand gallery to commemorate its storied past. Marcus Antonius Primus was crafted by Marc Arcis in the style of a Renaissance breastplate. When naming him Marcus, de Toulouse Palladienne, a renowned poet and unchallenged glory, invoked the Roman poet Martial's tradition of honoring the city with the protection of Clio, goddess of history and the arts, a custom that persisted into the 17th century.
