Marble Turntable with Gear
thingiverse
A Customizable Marble Turntable Design This innovative printable turntable uses marble instead of ball bearings, providing an alternative solution that is more readily available than ball bearings. Although ball bearings are not as easily obtained, they do come in rounded shapes unlike marble. This design was created with the goal of aiding a friend's project involving a turret powered by a servo and stabilizing a toy gun during movement. Key features include herringbone gears and a servo mount, allowing the turntable to be driven from the side with a 1:1 ratio. The user has the option to attach the servo or motor-driven servo mount object to a servo or motor, giving them control over how they want their turntable to rotate through either remote operation or continuous motion. This design is robust and capable of handling heavy objects weighing up to 10-20kg. Testing revealed it performs exceptionally well even when subjected to heavy loads such as a large whiteboard measuring approximately 1.5m x 1.5m. It demonstrates exceptional durability. An Openscad file is available, but note that the current code requires cleaning and may cause some complications during rendering due to the intricate herringbone gear design. To make the most out of this customizable turntable, users can edit the parameters and export STL files as per their preference. Important considerations: 1\. Rendering might be slowed down by numerous polygons in the herringbone gear because there are many unseen holes inside. 2\. For complete assembly with the servo or motor-driven top part, you need to use all three files. The design's public domain component also features a custom-made gear which can contribute significantly to an increased rendering time if included for every side. Users will encounter more difficulty generating this type of gear due to internal unseen polygons from previous code implementation
