SpaceWarp-compatible 3D Printed Rollercoaster Last Update: 01/12/18 Inspired by the now-out-of-production Spacewarp roller coaster system, I created this library based on Scott Mills' original design. The library is a reworked version of the thing found at Thingiverse, and I'm grateful to the creator for providing the openSCAD file. To complete my vision, I added several missing components, including a ball elevator, additional support structures, and switches. I used the Duplo plate as the baseplate for this project. You can find a video of my rollercoaster in action at https://youtu.be/lBIr7oJcXWI. All parts are designed to be easily printable using 3D printing technology. This library relies on other libraries, so make sure to install them in the same folder as this file before you start using it. You'll need: * polyScrewThread_r1.scad for nuts and bolts (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8796) * knurledFinishLib.scad for finishing curled parts (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9095) * augerLift.scad for the auger lift mechanism (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3194404) * parametric_involute_gear_v5.0.scad for gears (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3575) The openscad file I've attached contains a block interfacing section where you can modify the variable "part" to print all necessary parts for the rollercoaster. Here are the different components: * [0, ..., 5] Base plate * [6, ..., 15] Bar and rail coupling * [15, ..., 19] Loop * [20, ..., 24] Switch * [30, ..., 35] Support and CrossTie * [40, ..., 49] Auger lift To assemble the rollercoaster, you'll need to purchase a few components: * Ball: 1/2 inch carbon steel balls (available at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PX9KO0/) * Rail: 1/8th nylon tubing (available at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tubing-1-8-OD-Nylon-Natural-100-Ft-ZORO-SELECT-2VDN3-/381021006182) * Rail: 3mm Nitril (available at https://planetcaoutchouc.com/nitril-corde-ronde-3-mm.html) * Motor: 28YBJ-48 Stepper Motor (available at https://www.amazon.com/28YBJ-48-Stepper-ULN2003-Driver-Board/dp/B00XDTFW1M) * Plate: Duplo's plate (available at https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-DUPLO-L-Green-Building-Plate/302896757804?epid=79886055&hash=item46860dbc2c:rk:59:pf:0) Have fun building your SpaceWarp-compatible rollercoaster!
