thingiverse
Roman marble portrait of Emperor Antoninus Pius, created between A.D. 138-161 during the Antonine period, illustrates a mature man with a sober yet refined style reminiscent of Hadrian's imperial imagery. This artwork, classified as a stone sculpture, is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection under accession number 33.11.3 and is currently displayed in Gallery 162. Antoninus Pius was adopted by Hadrian as his successor at age fifty-one; he received the title 'Pius' for compelling the Senate to award divine honors to Hadrian. Unlike predecessors Trajan and Hadrian, Antoninus focused on administration rather than war or travel, presiding over a prosperous empire.
