Marble Machine... machine
thingiverse
Are your muscles sore and fingers calloused and bloody from playing with your marble machine kaleidoscope? Surely there must be a better way! This is a hand-crank device for running your marble machine automatically. How well does it work? Meh, fine. In retrospect, I should have made the outer piece of the marble machine move up and down. Live and learn. **Instructions** First, print everything. Do yourself a favor and lightly sand the rectangular shaft on the "spider" part. Also, make sure the "crank" part fits snugly into the "cam" part. You should be able to insert and remove the crank from the cam with some resistance. Lightly sand the last 15-20 mm of the crank to help with the fit. Next: 1. Glue the "core" part into the "base" part. 2. Hold the "cam" by the fat end and slide it into the "core" to align the square hole with the round holes. 3. Insert the "crank" shaft into the round hole in the "base", then through the "core" and "cam" holes. Carefully push until fully flush with the "base" support. 4. Insert the rectangular shaft of the "spider" into the hole in the "core". This is the assembled arrangement. Test it out. Turning the crank should allow the "spider" to move freely and fall by gravity alone. Now, you need to decide how to attach your marble machine to these parts. I used screws, but glue should be fine. Be careful in your alignment.
