Caracalla, son of Septimius Severus, seized power alongside his brother Geta but brutally murdered him after just one year in office. In 212, Caracalla granted citizenship to every freeborn person within the Empire's borders. However, his reign came to a violent end in 217 when he was assassinated by an officer while on a campaign in the East, a fate sealed by his execution of the officer's brother.
