I used 123D Catch and my iPhone 5S to capture this stunning bust at the British Museum, meticulously recreating every detail of its magnificent presence. Although I couldn't quite capture the entire summit of the hairdo, I skillfully reconstructed what I could with the expert assistance of MeshMixer. Marble Masterpiece Head of the Emperor Caracalla Roman Era Masterwork, Circa 215-217 AD A Regal Inheritance from Ancient Rome The imperial scion of Septimius Severus proudly sits atop this iconic creation. Rising to Power: As son of a great leader, Caracalla swiftly took his brother Geta's place on the throne. After their alliance's fateful one-year tenure ended in Geta's tragic demise at the hands of Caracalla himself, Caracalla set out to rewrite history with grand gestures. Revolutionizing Society: Caracalla forever changed the Empire by issuing the 'Civic Rights Law', offering Roman citizenship to every freeborn soul under his command in 212. The Tragic End: However, this golden rule didn't extend far past Caracalla's personal realm, for while on an Eastern campaign in 217 AD, a brutal assassination was committed at an unsuspecting moment - whilst the mighty Emperor relieved himself during nature's call. Collection Item #: 7-3.102 (Roman Sculpture dated 1917)
