Copy or adaptation of a Greek portrait from the early 3rd century B.C. The young man in this image wears a flat fillet, an insignia indicating kingship. He has been identified as one of the Macedonian Greek monarchs who ruled the new kingdoms formed after Alexander the Great conquered lands in the late fourth century B.C. The head was once part of a collection of antiquities assembled in early 17th-century Rome by Marchese Vincenzo Giustiniani. (Credit: MetMuseum) This object is part of "Scan The World".
