Mara Jade Lightsaber
thingiverse
This is my 5th remix of the awesome 3DPRINTINGWORLD's original Collapsing Lightsaber, and I'm completely hooked - I just can't stop making these! So, thank you, sir, for your amazing creation that has inspired me to keep going. If you like this saber, please use his Amazon link to buy things so he gets a little love. This saber is pretty straightforward; nothing real tricky with it. I'm absolutely thrilled with how it turned out - it's just what I had in mind. I did try to make a longer version that could take a flashlight (like my Rey saber), but this one wound up looking weird and lanky, like a tall skinny teenager. Again, I designed it so I could print the parts in the right color filament; I dislike painting these sabers, and I want them to look perfect. I do plan to use some Nuln Oil shader on it to make it look used and gritty, but for now, I wanted the pictures to be nice and shiny. The only silver filament that's good enough is Eryone Silver Silk; it's not a finished chrome, but it's the best of the 4-5 I've tried. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I've included a cover for the end that just clips on - this prevents the blade from sliding out while you're wearing it on your belt. Since I plan to cosplay with these sabers, this is essential; I don't want anything falling off in the middle of a photo shoot or performance. The tabs on the cover that hold it in place are designed to be a bit too big - after printing, just trim them so they clip on more easily, but not too easily. You don't want the cover falling off while you're wearing it.
