Mar's E3D Trinity Mount: for mounting 3xE3Dv6's! (1.75mm and 3mm)
thingiverse
A 3D printing project! This design is for a triple extruder mount using three bowden E3Ds (v6) and appears to be a modification of the TAZ carriage. The designer, who also goes by "TheKingofSquid," aimed to create an alternative to Sebastian's Diamond design. **Key Features:** * Three E3D v6 hotends are used for extrusion. * Each hotend is mounted on a separate E3D_trinity_body_fixed part, allowing for better heat management and reduced thermal stress. * The mount uses the standard E3D herringbone gears, nema motors, and resistors. **Hardware Requirements:** * Three sets of herringbone gears * Three NEMA 17 stepper motors * Six M3x20 hexagon head bolts (for attaching to the body) * Six M4 nuts (for securing the E3D v6 hotends) * Three M4x10 bolts (lower holder) * Three M4x25 bolts (upper mount to carriage) * Four M3x30 bolts (upper fan) * Four M3x10 bolts (lower fan) * Eight M3 nuts * One 30x30mm fan (internal) - recommended * One 50x50mm fan (top) - required **Software Requirements:** * Firmware changes are necessary to support three hotends. The designer provides offsets for the firmware: * Extruder 1: 0,0 * Extruder 2: x=-29.45, y=-51 * Extruder 3: x=29.45, y=-51 * Marlin parameters need to be enabled: * `//#define HOTEND_OFFSET_X {0.0, -29.45, 29.45}` * `//#define HOTEND_OFFSET_Y {0.0, -51, -51.00}` **Printing Instructions:** 1. The dimensions for the X axis are increased by 29.45, so a spacer is required at the min X-endstop. 2. Remove printing imperfections from the body and holder, especially "E3D_trinity_body_fixed" M3 holes to ensure proper wing nut detachment. 3. Print "E3D_trinity_body\_fixed" upside down (No. 1 dimple faces down) with support to achieve equal height for the three E3Ds. 4. The lower cooling fan part may also need to be printed upside down. 5. Wing nuts require a 4mm brim to attach properly to the heating bed; print them with no support and remove any printing imperfections. This project requires advanced users, as it involves additional hardware and firmware changes. For beginners, it's recommended to start with simpler projects and gradually move on to more complex ones like this one.
