The Tureen was designed and made to push the limits of software, hardware, and revolutionary ceramic materials in Additive Manufacturing (AM).\r\nI chose an iconic object from the first Industrial Revolution and produced it using methods that would be impossible with conventional industrial ceramic techniques.\r\nThe design draws inspiration from early Wedgwood tureens, chosen because Josiah Wedgwood was a pioneer of the first Industrial Revolution. Many manufacturers, including Wedgwood, created ceramics imitating other materials. I decided to imitate artificial bone, known for its interesting texture and produced using AM for experimental implants.\r\nThe tureen was designed on Rhino 3D and FreeForm software. The files were then sent to a ZCorp 510 3D printing machine that 'printed' the piece. It was infiltrated to give the plaster material more strength, and subsequently coated in a non-fired ceramic material developed by a French company, customized to imitate Wedgwood Black Basalt.\r\n- Michael Eden\r\nRead More http://wedgwoodnt.blogspot.com
