This final project at the Centre Sectoriel de Formation en Soudure Outillage et Plasturgie de Sousse involves designing and building a didactic simulation model of an injection plastic mold closing unit, supervised by a touch screen. The model replicates varying cycle speeds and strokes for mold opening and closing, controlled by a hydraulic cylinder fed through a proportional distributor. A SIEMENS S7-200 CPU 224 with an EM 235 extension analog input/output module and a DSE3 power card operate the proportional distributor. A TP177 touch screen enables real-time monitoring of the process and necessary adjustments for proper model operation. The mold closing mechanism is designed in 3D using CATIA software.
