Map Holder for MTB Orienteering / Adventure Racing
thingiverse
MTB handlebar mount for a map board / map holder, used in bike orienteering and adventure racing. This design clamps to a standard 31.8mm diameter mountain bike handlebar. The map board can be rotated to orient the map correctly throughout the race and the lock nut holds it in the desired orientation. I have seen several other versions posted on Thingiverse, but they looked pretty fragile. I intentionally designed this mount to be solid and durable. To that end I printed with infill at 50%, but not sure if that is necessary or not. Clamps have an integrated hinge, so print in one piece (on their side). Assembly requires the following: (2) 5/16 x 1" bolts and lock nuts (1) 3/8 x 1-1/4" bolt and lock nut (2) GoPro thumbscrew bolts and acorn nuts (like these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KVLNEB0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3LDYY9JWKE0VP&psc=1) Epoxy to attach the map board to the mount. Alternatively you can add holes to the top support bracket and attach the map board with wire ties. Electrical tape to line the inside of the clamps and prevent slipping UPDATE: I added a tall version that will clear my Fenix BC30 bike light (see pictures), as well as a low-profile version for flat bars that is sized for 3/8" bolts. Design inspired by (though modified significantly from) this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUGf7YUjJo
