The Church of São Julião was originally constructed during the latter half of the 13th century. Between 1513 and 1520, King Manuel I ordered a complete rebuild of the medieval church. The lateral portal, also known as this door, is an impressive example of Manueline architecture featuring twisted columns that imitate ropes, intricate vegetal motifs, and trilobed arches.
