Manual Playing Card Shuffler
thingiverse
The inspiration for this project came from an old card shuffler my grandmother owned, similar to this one available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Think-Fun-Manual-Card-Shuffler/dp/B00005BYL1/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt). You can watch a video of it in action here: http://youtu.be/UNC6esL7LZw. The parts needed for assembly include 1 CrankFace, 1 CrankFaceBack, 1 Handle, 2 AxleCaps, 1 SmallCap, 1 SmallGear, 4 SmallGearLittleHoles, 1 BigGear, 4 Rollers, 4 CardGuides, and 2 CardDecks. Additionally, you will need 2 pieces of 140 mm x 2 mm (coat hanger wire), 2 grub screws (3 mm), 31 M3 x 10mm bolts, 3 ID washers (3 mm), and a rubber band to glue to one roller for grip. Future improvements may include better gear mesh, a bumper to guide cards downward, a smaller footprint, and more cutouts to reduce the mass of ABS used. The current design also relies on plastic to hold bolts in place, so options for nuts could be added as well.
