The "Future Workstation" project Mantis features a stand that serves as a support with brackets for attaching monitors, a projector, tracker, and table. It utilizes 3D displays compatible with active or passive eyewear or built-in reticles. The position of the monitors in space is adjustable by the operator. Servo-controlled brackets assist in moving the monitor in space and returning it to its original position after use. The software-based design (prototyping) is controlled using voice, pen, 3D manipulator, mouse, body position (hands) tracked by a tracker installed near the projector. The projector projects a 3D model onto the floor (with support for active or passive eyewear). This allows users to design an item and hold it in their hands. Users can select furniture (chair, desk, sofa) for their workspace according to taste.
