FutureDesk 3D Project: "Mantis" Future Workspace A prototype "mantis" desk showcases an opposition with a futuristic touchscreen for adjusting monitors, projectors, trackers, and stools. Active or passive eyes are utilized in combination with built-in LED illumination for dynamic adjustment. A three-dimensional layout is easily created by rearranging the monitor workspace. Crown-style with built-in service devices assist in repositioning a monitor to different locations in real time. Using programmable control, operation can be initiated via voice, air gesture, or handheld controller to shift focus between body parts in relation to a screen and camera setup. Through projective display techniques, 3D objects can now seamlessly merge the boundaries of reality and technology by projecting models over any location within physical range. This is possible due to advanced technologies utilizing depth mapping through various tracking modalities and real-time 3D reconstruction processing algorithms. The object can then be edited in 2.5 dimensions as if on an empty white surface or wall using intuitive hand and arm gestures. For example, by navigating 3D cursor objects over projected geometry data in a room the artist, viewer, architect, engineer, user interface designer can quickly assess layout, modify structural dynamics for better aesthetics without compromising performance. Users such as the ones that visit their preferred home automation or architectural web app using iOS and Windows on iPad devices are often not only aware of current state through touch sensitive wall mounted LCD displays and tablets at 16 points along walls in every home. They can then change everything remotely through smart device gestures via a wireless tablet PC running remote user software like SmartApps in a smartphone connected to Apple TV on Apple iPhone. All elements except the desktop or shelf component itself can be adjusted instantly from anywhere for reorientation at each and any touch-sensitive display installed across the wall.
