Mantis-30

This reworked version of David Carr's Mantis router, available at http://makeyourbot.org/mantis9-1, now uses metric sizes and has a larger ground plate measuring 30x30 cm. The working volume is approximately 190 x 130 x 40 mm, depending on your precision. For cutting the wood pieces, a CNC router is recommended, with 12mm birch ply (about 1/2") being the suggested material. Rhino 3D was used for designing the project, so the rhino file should be considered authoritative, while the dxf file serves as convenience. The layers in the dxf file are number-prefixed and should be followed in order, with offsets provided for 3mm drill and 5mm router bits. Further, possibly outdated, instructions can be found at http://wiki.protospace.nl/index.php/MantisRouter. A recent update includes plans for a more common 'fake dremel' and additional tweaks, with the nesting tailored to a 5mm flat tip bit; users in the US may need to adjust imperial size bits accordingly.
