If you install a side-mounted spool holder on your Ender 3, you may encounter issues with the spool twisting and interfering with the X-axis motor. To resolve this problem, I created a simple upgrade that addresses the issue. You can attach the spool to the holder and secure it in place using an extra 4mm screw and nut provided with the printer.
