Manta Ray Face Shield V6 (Prusa + 3DVerkstan remix)
prusaprinters

It's called "Manta Ray" because I asked my kids what it looked like, and Rylee said, "it looks kind of like a manta ray."

EDIT 6/19/2020: Added a "mouse ears" version. There are little circles at the ends that help hold it down.

EDIT 4/8/2020: Added V6 E2S (Easier To Stack). There is "Full" and "Open". Full has the visor without the opening near the forehead, with Open making the opening go all the way through the model.

EDIT 4/5/2020: Added V5, which gives the front part that holds the shield material a slightly larger base, which will help with adhesion to the build plate.

I know there are A LOT of face mask models out there right now. A LOT. That's great. I love what Prusa and his company have done and put forth - BUT - I also very much love what Erik Cederberg and the 3DVerkstan have done too. I like parts from both models - maybe I could squish them together?

So, I did.

I used the Prusa front - you know, the continuous cruved surface that holds face shield material well. I used the USA version, which has pegs for a single 3-hole punch.

I used the 3DVerkstan arms - you know, the sloped arms that hold the visor to your head without the need for elastic of any sort, but give you attachment points if you DO want to use it.

I remixed those two models to get this. It holds to the face without elastic, and it takes a single 3-hole punch without the need to swap, or flip, or punch twice.

Print instructions

Print in whatever material you like.

Favor more shells over infill.

I used 0.3mm layers
