Manta - life inspired sculptural lamp

The Manta lamp was inspired by the majestic forms of its marine namesake. A fish with fluid movements, delicate, and refined shapes that defy convention. In fact, in this project I aimed to capture the essence of the manta's curves and lines, which convey movement and dynamic energy from every angle. From a frontal view, it evokes the motion of the manta fins, but when viewed from different perspectives, the lamellar shape is designed to evoke the gills, characteristic of this species. The material I selected for this project is opaque white acrylic, which initially presented itself as a challenge due to its transparency. However, it ultimately proved to be an ideal choice, allowing me to accentuate the shapes and create shadows that enhance the curves and lightness I aimed to represent in this design.
