<p>== General ==<br/> A replacement mount for the ender 3 hotend fan with possible side (and bottom) mounting for whatever you like. For mounting you will need M3 (8+mm) and M2 (8+mm) screws. Be careful not to overtighten any screws as it's easy to crack/strip the plastic.</p> <p>So far i have made a mount for the stock 4010 part-cooling fan and a BLtouch. The XY offset for the BLtouch should be {-32.15, -12}.</p> <p>== Side Mounting ==<br/> The side mounting is dovetail based and is kept in place with M2 screws. I have printed 100+ hours without anything slipping so that shouldn't be a problem.</p> <p>For it to function properly the tolerances with the main body can't be too tight or sloppy. I have provided two STLs for testing this (tolerance_....STL). The different sides on the test piece have different tolerances represented with the dots, one dot = 0.1mm offset. The pieces should be able to slide but with as little wiggle as possible. The main file you need is the one with the same tolerance number as the number of dots that give you the best fit. For me its three dots so i use "main_mount_03tol.stl".</p> <p>The tolerances are built into the main body so if you want to make a custom side mount you can just use the dovetail geometry in the pictures and it should work out fine.</p> <p>== Bottom mounting ==<br/> There are some holes in the bottom of the mount. I was thinking of mounting some LEDs with these but haven't gotten around to it yet.</p> <p>== Printing ==<br/> I have printed all my parts in PLA and have not had any trouble whatsoever. Here are my recommendations for print orientation/support.</p> <p>The main mount does not need any support material and is printed the right way up.</p> <p>The main fan duct needs support material (only touching buildplate) and is printed the right way up.</p> <p>The BLtouch mount needs a tiny bit of support material and is printed upside down.</p>
