Manfrotto Tripod MT055CXPRO3 Spike Holder
thingiverse
For my landscape photography, I required spikes for my carbon fiber Manfrotto tripod. Manfrotto offers a set of spikes that fit perfectly, but I disliked the idea of screwing up the rubber feet and risked scratching the floor by doing it improperly. On Amazon, I discovered spikes (Photecs Stativ Spike) with a G 3/8" thread, accompanied by a rubber cover. Any spike with this type of thread will do, like the one found on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3PCS-3-8-Screw-Stainless-Steel-Tripod-Monopod-Foot-Spike-Rubber-For-Gitzo-Benro/302471654398?hash=item466cb72bfe:g:pjEAAOSwEkhZzuW1 Designing a cylinder with a G 3/8" thread that could be glued into the tube of the tripod legs would have been the simplest solution. However, I sought a non-destructive approach that closely resembled the original attachable spikes from Manfrotto. This part works seamlessly with any tube having a diameter of 20.4 mm. I've included the Fusion 360 design for you to adjust the diameter according to your tripod leg's specifications. Please note that I'm not a master designer, and many of you can likely create a more efficient design. The best part is that this component can be detached at any time. I was thrilled to find that the 3/8" thread fit perfectly, providing a snug connection. Additionally, I had ordered 3/8" nuts in advance, but fortunately, they proved unnecessary.
