Manatee Radius and Ulna - High Resolution Scan
thingiverse
This is a scan of a genuine Florida manatee radius and ulna (forearm) bone. Manatees are the official state mammal of Florida, and are an endangered species in dire need of conservation efforts. This particular specimen is on loan from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and is carefully curated at the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. Most manatee bones are incredibly dense due to their solid cortical composition, making them a fascinating subject for study. Since manatees have evolved flippers instead of arms, the upper arm and forearm bones exhibit an unusual shape. This juvenile female manatee bone measures approximately 6 inches in length. It can be printed in its entirety or scaled down to fit your bed's dimensions. Scanning was performed using a NextEngine scanner, ensuring high-quality imaging. Print this remarkable and rare specimen for educational purposes, use it as a teaching tool, or simply expand your knowledge of zoology. Proper attribution is required if you intend to use this scan in any manner other than personal use. Commercial use is strictly prohibited.
